Microsoft Word Documents (.DOCX) created in Word 2007 are the most widely used document format as they take lesser space and offer more features. Few impressive features of every .docx file include new XML-based format, a redesigned interface with ribbon and an integrated equation editor. We can use these documents with older versions of MS Office like 2003 using free Microsoft utilities that convert the document (.docx to .doc) from XML compression format to the standard one. Any sort of corruption in these files may cause information loss, formatting issue or complete inaccessibility. In such situations, if no recent document backup is available, you need an efficient File Recovery Software.
The situations in which these documents (.docx) can be lost are:
o Occurrence of an error message can result in document (.docx) loss
o Power failure while working on the document
If the .docx file is lost due to any of the above reasons, then the user first needs to search for the .docx file in Windows. If the user can find the document by using the search option available in windows operating system. If the search results do not show the .docx file, then the user needs recover the lost word document. He can do that by using a third party application known as File Recovery Software to successfully recover the lost .docx file.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most powerful and reliable File Recovery application. This File Recovery utility recovers .docx files by incorporating influential scanning methods. This Data Recovery Software is read only in nature for safe and non destructive recovery. It is designed with highly graphical and interactive user interface. It is compatible with FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. This Data Recovery application supports Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000. It supports more than 300 types. This Recovery utility supports storage media such as hard drives (internal and external), USB Flash drives (also known as pen drives or thumb drives) and memory cards. Hard Drive Recovery Solutions
Hard Drive Recovery is a term which is used in Information Technology and other Computing related sectors. This is used for describing the procedure of searching, locating and restoring lost data. For instance, if your computer hard drive has got damaged and you can not access files from it, then you need to go for Recovery to get the files back.
As an unconventional process, Hard Drive Recovery was generally carried out by professionals or experienced users. Now-a-days, we can carry out recovery from not just computer storage but also from Personal Media Players like iPods, Memory Cards, Digital Camera, Mobile Phones, USB Drives; CDs and DVDs (as images). The aim of Data Recovery is to extract your most valuable data from respective storage media.
Modern Data Recovery procedures have become so simple that even a home user can easily use them to recover lost data. You may experience data loss issues due to accidental deletion, file system corruption, operating system corruption, erroneous hard drive format operations and other logical problems to your computer. You can still get your data back using high quality Recovery software. In most of the situations, when the data gets lost, it still resides on your hard drive. It generally remains physically intact. Only the index entries of files get deleted and thus operating system can not access the files.
The most standard form of Hard Drive Recovery procedures comes into action when you face certain physical problems with your hard drive or any other storage media. When it happens, you can not recover data on your own and you need to opt for professional Data Recovery assistance.
The possibility and success rate of Recovery depends upon the cause and extent of damage. In some situations you can easily recover your data but in others you might not be able to get your data back as the drive gets physically damaged. The physical Data Recovery requires special environment. Such environment should be free from dust, moisture and static (ESD) as the sensitive hard drive components can get affected due to these. So, it should be left for professionals that are well versed with hard disk internals.
The success rate of recovery of data also depends upon the reliability and power of Recovery solution that you are going to use. You should always go for a solution that is provided by an experienced and reputed Hard Drive Recovery company such as Stellar Information Systems Limited.
Stellar's high quality Data Recovery software are developed as per the highest standards of industry to provide safe, easy and quick recovery. These software are available for most of the computer operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, UNIX, Linux and Novell Netware. The personalized and sophisticated Hard Drive Recovery service of Stellar is delivered through State of The Art Class 100 Clean Rooms.

Remote Server Backup - How Reliable and Secure is It?
Just how reliable is a remote server backup solution, really?
It is being touted as the latest innovation in disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity for the small-to-medium sized business owner: The ability to have the files on your desktop computer or even your servers being backed up, in real-time, over the Internet, on autopilot.
Of course, using a remote server backup solution yields substantial cost savings: You don't have to invest in any hardware or even any backup media, you don't have to license any software, and you don't have to hire technical specialists to maintain your backups for you.
Your disaster recovery solution is as simple as this:
1. Sign up with an online backup service provider.
2. Install the client agent software on your machine. This agent is always running in the
background on the machine, 24 hours a day (or whenever your PC is on.)
3. Any time you make any changes to your hard drive - files are added, modifed, or deleted,
the agent detects the change, encrypts the file, and copies the changed file across the
Internet to a remote server backup facility maintained by the service provider.
4. If you need to recover a file, all you need to do is open up Windows Explorer or "My
Computer". There, you will find a "network drive" that has set up for you. This network
drive behaves just like another hard drive, except that when you click to open it up, the files
that you see there are actually a backup version of your hard drive!
5. To recover any file, you simply copy the file from the network drive back to your local
computer's hard drive.
So just how reliable is this solution?
If you have a high-speed Internet connection, then you should have no problems. If your PC is able to download files off the Internet (and chances are 100% that your PC is able to do that!), it should be able to send files across the Internet for backup purposes, too!
And how secure is this solution?
All of the files are encrypted by the agent software before being uploaded to the remote server backup facility. What that means is that nobody, not even the folks who work at the online service provider, would be able to read or manipulate your data. It is completely secure.
Are you prepared in case disaster strikes and you lose your data? Fortunately, there is an easy solution: You can backup your data online instantly on autopilot.

Data Recovery After Virus Infection
The process of Data Recovery involves easy and systematic recovery of lost data from storage media like hard disk, pen drive, memory cards, optical disc images etc. Recovery is a unique process that is performed by the users to recover different type of data files such as office suite files, photos, videos, music etc. The data saved in the hard drive can be damaged or lost due to operating system failure, improper system shutdown, accidental deletion, virus infection, partition table corruption or loss, file system corruption, software malfunction etc. To completely recover the lost data, the user needs to use effective Data Recovery Software.
Generally we observe that when a user creates an important document like the annual financial report of the organization, there are various components in it like text, diagrams, tables etc. Such critical reports should always be backed up properly as by using Microsoft Backup files or copying them manually to an external drive. In this case, the data loss may happen because of file corruption. The file corruption is generally attributed to malicious software like virus and malware. In such circumstances, we should scan the system for infected files and then try to disinfect them. The files get corrupts as per the virus behavior. Normally, it is not easy to disinfect a file and maintain the data integrity at the same time. The files generally go corrupt and don't even open with the Office application. So, we need to opt for Software that enables the user to recover the lost report.
To recover from such data loss, the organizations need to use third party applications known as Data Recovery Software. Effective Software enable the user to recover and restore the lost data in all logical data loss situations. Recovery Software are specifically designed for various file systems, software suites and applications.
Stellar Information Systems Limited is the globally leading Data Recovery Company with the finest recovery Software . Misconceptions in Data Recovery
Accidental erasure means permanent data loss: This is one of the most perceived in the minds of many PC users. They believe that one the accidentally erase some data/files and it was important, that data cannot be retrieved. THAT'S NOT TRUE! As long as one does not tamper with the storage medium, your data can be retrieved by data recovery specialist. So in case any user happens to delete some critical information that they really need, don't panic! Just pick up the phone and contact a reputable data recovery specialist who will give you the necessary guidance in recovering your data.
Data Recovery is very costly: If you are reading this and you have this mentality, you had better stop thinking. Statistics have it that after data loss, it is estimated that having to recreate the data would cost 8000$ per MB. Who is willing to spend all this money recreating all the lost information when one could go for data recovery services? Data recovery services would charge a few thousand or even a few hundred dollars to recover your data within a short amount of time. So do the math and choose the best option!
Data Recovery specialists are fraudsters: This is another misconception that is not good. These are the only people who can salvage your business after data has been lost. Just as an accountant is entrusted with the accounts within any organization, a data recovery specialist is entrusted with the work of recovering data; your data which is very important. It is said that data is the fuel that keeps a business going. Without data, your business would collapse. Therefore, whether one may think that data recovery specialists are fraudsters, you may at one point or the other need their services as they could be the only people who may keep your business running by helping you recover your lost data.

Backing Up and Recovery After a Computer Crash
Computer crashes usually occur at the most unexpected times. Therefore, if you value your data and you don't want to go through the whole process of inputting it again, you will need to backup your data to prevent permanent data loss. Failure to do this will have detrimental effects to one business that may eventually lead to closure of the business. This does not only apply to people who run their businesses on their computer systems. Even if you don't use a computer for your business transactions, one has to always keep their data safe.
In this day and age, backup facilities are not only found in large organizations but are also accessible to the common man. There are provisions of remote backup services, external storage devices such as CDs, DVDs, flash disks etc. and online backup services that are mainly file sharing sites where file are open to the public for viewing and downloading.
However, in the midst of all this possible ways of trying to backup your data, it is possible that your backup may be corrupted and even totally destroyed. This may be so in the case of a natural disaster like earthquakes, fires, and floods etc. where the results are massive destruction. Also, in case one did not backup their data and the computer displays signs of crashing, what is one supposed to do? The thing is DON'T PANIC. Your data can still be retrieved. This is where the data recovery specialists come in. These are people well trained in handling your storage device in trying to recover your information.

The Significance of Data Recovery Software For Business
With the introduction of advanced technology, computer systems have become an essential part of the business world. All of the business operations are carried out using computers and peripherals. Nowadays, we cannot even think about the possibility of an efficient work environment without computers.
You can not deny that computers have a number of benefits for the users but along with the advantages, they also have certain drawbacks. All the data like office documents and business information etc. is stored on computer storage like hard drive. Such data stays at risk as the normal hard drives that we use consist of various moving parts that generate heat and may fail because of wear and tear over a period of time. Also, the magnetic storage method of a hard drive is not as secure as optical storage like of DVDs and CDs. What should be done to overcome this?
Using Data Recovery software you can retrieve your lost data from virus infected, formatted or logically crashed hard drives and other storage media like pen drives. Data Recovery software are reliable applications and offer total recovery. You need not have sound technical skills and prior recovery knowledge. We should be careful while selecting Recovery tools for our system. If you own a business and your data has great importance for you then it is recommended to always go for high quality software that can ensure complete and safe extraction of your precious data.
Not all Hard Drive Recovery software could handle all sorts of data loss situations. They are usually specific in their functions. Some software can recover only the accidentally deleted data whereas some are able to recover data from formatted hard drive. The worst data loss scenario is one which occurs due to file system corruption or system file corruption. Such scenarios could not be handled by general Recovery tools and you need to search for an extremely powerful and advanced tool that supports RAW Data Recovery.
Stellar Information Systems Limited is the leading provider of superior software. Stellar's Hard Drive Recovery software are available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, UNIX, BSD and Novell Netware operating systems. The suite allows you to have quick, easy and absolute Recovery in almost all data loss situations. Being the foremost Recovery Company, Stellar offers free demo versions of all its Hard Drive Recovery software. You can download and use free demo versions to check out the features of these software and assess the applications by checking the files that can be recovered.

Backup Your Data to Avoid Data Loss.
Any one who is new to computers knows that he should save his data so he can find it easily when ever he needs it. What if you save some of your important data but does not backed it up, your computer gets infected with some malicious software and at the end of day you come to know that your data got lost due to system crash?
You can lose your files in many ways, you can even lose it by your own hands by deleting it accidentally or your system might get infected by a virus or while using internet, a hacker can easily sneak in to your machine and steal your data leaving nothing behind for you.
It's better to create a backup for your data so that in case of data loss or theft you can use that backup to deal with these kinds of problems. There are many ways which you can utilize to create backup of your data. Few are discussed below.
To secure your system from being attacked by viruses, Trojans and hacking attempt, a reliable anti virus and anti hacking software should be installed on your system so that there isn't any chance of any virus attack or hacking attempt when you are connected to the internet.
Another problem which might cause data loss is the presence of errors on your hard drive, your data is stored on the hard drive and its maintenance is crucial to restrict data loss. You can keep your hard drive maintain by command line utility called check disk or running disk cleanup or using disk fragmentation.
An other issue which causes data loss is not keeping your registry clear, all the ".d LL" and ".exe" errors occur due to the registry, this causes data loss and to prevent data loss its better to keep your registry clear by removing unwanted and malicious information from your registry.
Electricity fluctuation can also cause the electronic devices to malfunction resulting in data loss and also your hardware gets destroyed. It's better to use uninterrupted electric supply for the protection of your machine and also for the security of your data.
Data protection software are also being used to back up data; this software does not only secure your data but also prevent data loss by restricting hacking attempts and virus attacks. These software are more secure and reliable because even if your system gets crashed these software keep your data secured and you can access your data by installing them on other machines. It's essential to use these data protecting software.
Folder Lock not only secure your data but also does Folder Encryption.

Which Gives Better Results, Data Recovery Software Or a Data Recovery Service?
For those who have had the horrible experience of a computer meltdown, you will know that there is data that you need to recover from your computer. There are a couple of different ways that this can be achieved. You will either have to use a data recovery software program or find a service. While there may be a number of great programs out there, a highly skilled data recovery specialist might be your best bet.
There are many people who use their computer for their business and the loss of data can be devastating. It is something that could happen at any time, so you should be prepared for the inevitable hard disk crash. It can happen at any point during the day, so make sure that you know what you are going to do in the event that it happens to you.
Amazingly, there are people who don't believe that it will ever happen to them and they have not even backed up their important data. These people believe that their information is completely safe on their system and will be in for a life changing surprise if it happens to them. When the data on the system is not backed up, a data recovery expert will be needed to get the most important information from the hard disk.
Many of the experts who work in data recovery are not only able to recover your lost data, but they will, in many cases, also be able to find out what caused the problem in the first place. This might be able to help you prevent it from happening again. A data recovery expert will cost you a pretty high amount, but the service that you get is amazing. It is possible to find a number of these experts in your local area by searching online. However, if you are not able to get online, you can look in the local phone book.
Most of the data recovery experts that you will find will offer you a consultation free of charge. This will allow you to find the expert that you can afford. Of course, you should consider the experience and expertise of the person you are hiring and the importance of the information that you must have recovered.
The next time you find yourself in a lost data situation for any reason, consult with an expert and get your valuable information back.

The Best Data Recovery Choice For You. By John Simpson
The best defense against a loss of data is a really solid and faithful backup routine of important files to reliable media. It's also a good idea for the media to be removable and portable if possible so that even if something happens to your whole computer for any reason, the data is protected by being in a totally different physical area.
OK, so that is the best solution to data loss. But what if you have not been backing up your drive like you should and now you find yourself confronted with the daunting task of getting all the important files back that were on your computer before the emergency happened? (By the way, you can take some comfort in knowing that quite a few people find themselves in this situation. You are not alone.) What are your choices at this point?
Well, basically there are two ways of recovering data from a damaged disk, either by using a data recovery service or a data recovery software package. Either can do the job, but there are some factors that should go into your decision about which one to use. First, are you pretty computer savvy? If you are then maybe data recovery software will work for you. If not, do not try this method at all. The other is how much time do you have to spend on retrieving this data? If you have lots of time to put into it, then consider doing the job yourself with a reputable software package. If you don't have much time to devote to this endeavor, don't waste both time and money with the software option.
If you have decided upon using a data recovery service, you should know that the odds are that you will get a good portion, if not all of your data back. The generally accepted success rate in the industry is around 80%. Much of the success will depend on the skill and determination of the data recovery specialist who will be working on your drive. They all have sophisticated software tools to work with, but data recovery is not as simple as just plugging in a piece of software, walking away and coming back when it has found all the files. It often requires a specialist who is a bit of a detective, andnot easily discouraged, to get back a good portion of data, especially on drives with physical damage.
Don't be surprised to get two quotes for data recovery from some companies either. One for logical data retrieval that is much easier to handle and will be a much lower figure, and one for physical damage which is far more challenging and therefore rightly costs more. You will also find that cost quotes will often vary considerably. It is usually best to choose somewhere in the middle of the pack toward the higher end. The reason for this is that some companies engage in a bait and switch tactic that indicates that they will cost less initially, but when they actually receive the drive they wil claim that upon review the cost will be much higher. It's best to avoid messing with these companies at all.
So if you have lost data and have no backups to fall back on, data recovery can still be done. Just use the guidelines presented in this article for choosing the data recovery method that will work best for you.

Some Basic Tips on Data Recovery. By George Pata
Causes of the data loss: Data can be lost in a different number of ways. The most common ways are human error which includes accidental erasure, mishandling of storage devices, computer crimes (hacking, theft, arson) etc., power surges, virus attacks, natural disasters just to mention but a few. Some of these causes can be minimized e.g. power surges can be controlled using uninterrupted power supply (UPS), installing anti-virus software, providing physical security to the premises that hold data by employing guards, connecting CCT, etc.
Data Recovery is actually possible: This is true as long as the storage medium is not tampered with. The common thing that happens whenever one loses data is to panic and try to fix the problem on their own, making the situation worse. In this respect, it is always advised that when one loses data, he should not panic but seek for professional help immediately from data recovery specialists. This is the best thing to do as your data will be salvaged before great damage is done. Data recovery specialists know what to do with your storage medium in order to save your data. So don't panic; just make the call and your data could be saved.
Leave it for the Specialists: It is sad that if you wear one's shoes for a day, at the end of it you would want your shoes back. In the same way, when you try and recover data on your own, you will only make the situation worse and wish you had made that call to the data recovery specialist at the onset. Thus, individuals should be discouraged from trying to carry out data recovery. Stick to your area of expertise and let the professionals do their work.

Symptoms of a Hard Disk Failure Resulting Into Data Loss. By Andrew Juan
There are several informative signs which indicate that your computer hard drive might fail and thus you could lose your important data. These signs include the following:
1. System Boot Failure: When we make some changes to our system configuration like hardware upgrade, operating system update or driver upgrade we might face issues related to logical crash and thus no boot. It might take place due to damaged computer system files, boot record information, file system corruption etc. We normally boot our systems using hard drives. We can also use Floppy disks, USB Devices where we can easily save files in the drive, SSD (Solid State Disk) and Optical media like DVD, CD etc. If the hard drive has some internal issues then it will be difficult to boot your system. Due to boot failure, you can not access your data and thus may lose valuable data like official documents and more.
2. System Noise: Sometimes when your computer is running, you might hear some strange clicking and scrapping noise that could be either at regular or irregular time intervals. In such cases, you are advised to immediately turn off your computer.
These sounds might come because of failed spindle motor, head crash or broken actuator. At this point of time, you should check warranty of the hard drive and if it is out of warranty you need to contact a hardware repair professional to get your hard drive back to the normal state and safeguard the data files as soon as the system boots up normally.
If we are not able to achieve this in time we may face data loss and will need to carry out Hard Disk Recovery in logical crash situations.
3. No Disk Access: Sometimes when you try to read data from hard drive or attempt to write to it, you are unable to do it. No read/write operation can be completed if the hard drive cannot get accessed. In such scenarios, the hard drive heats up and the system's or chassis' red LED light (activity) generally remains active. It can be because of problems related to hard drive internals or file system errors. It can cause physical as well as logical corruption and thus data loss.
4. Error Messages: You may see a blue screen when your computer is running with certain STOP information regarding the error occurred. One of the major causes of Blue Screens is hard disk failure. It might cause file system corruption and data loss.
When you see any of the above symptoms in your computer, you should avoid using the system without fixing the issue. The first step you should take is to find out the cause of failure. There are two major causes of hard drive failure:
1. Logical Damage
2. Physical Damage
If the important system files of your computer are missing or corrupt, you will encounter error messages and may face the data loss. To resolve these issues, you need to opt for Recovery software to achieve 'Do It Yourself' Hard Drive Recovery.
On the other hand, physical Data Recovery is comparatively more complex as it requires specialized service environment like the one provided by Clean Rooms. It needs special assistance of Hard Drive Recovery experts. In such cases, to get your data recovered, you need to go for Recovery service.
In order to achieve absolute, safe and quick Hard Drive Recovery, you should always ensure that you choose a time tested brand in Data Recovery industry such as Stellar Information Systems Limited.

Data Recovery Equipment. By Zoe Chou
Today, computers are an integral and indispensable part of the IT world. No matter what your line may be, finance, education, business consulting and investigation, IT information security, or else. In fact, most people always take it for granted. You should never brag your computer can be failure-free.
The foremost use of computer is data storage. All the data is stored on a physical disk named hard disk drive which is a magnetic layer. And it is more likely to be stricken by a wide variety of reasons, such as a partition lost, system can not access, human mistake (accidental reformatting, deletion), file corruption, power surge, and virus attack, to the worst, these physical level failures typically are head crash, platter scratch, and motor failures caused by overwriting, physical damages, natural disasters, etc.
Sometimes a hard drive has been stricken dead or not working at all without any warning signs, but some other times there may be some clues that something is going bad or amiss. Such changes in performance or sudden blue screens are telltale signs that the hard drive may be on its way to collapse. The most obvious and common sign are clicking, squealing, scraping or grinding noises.
The computer become more involved in our daily life, so the danger of data loss also surfaces.
As most of us have already experienced data loss, it could be frustrated and traumatic, when you finally find your critical data are not able to recover. As a matter of fact, logical failures as I previously mentioned, a data recovery software program can simply work out, but speaking of physical failures, No! Those drives with minor physical failures will need a special equipment to repair hard drive itself or recover data.
Why data recovery software will stop there? The ordinary user-level repeated-read access method that is used by imaging software bring a risk of damaging the disk and head, making data lost irretrievable. Also the software skips bad sectors directly in order not to get hang (freeze). Even so it gets hang most of the time in case the drive has lost of bad sectors. Plus, there is no guarantee that all the data will be extracted as much as possible, though days or weeks of time wasted on imaging bad drives. That's why you should avoid it at all cost.
A unique data recovery equipment known as Data Compass is mostly used among experts and practitioners worldwide, where traditional tools can not reach the height. Data Compass reads data of each sector physically byte-to-byte, including good and bad, and copy to a good disk using its data extraction software and hardware. "Shadow Disk" technology allows Data Compass to maximally avoid further damage to the drive, and ensure the data is not lost from repeated recovery attempts.
Technically speaking, it is hard to figure out how exactly the data can be recovered. It all depends. In most cases, data will be able to recover as long as the parts of hard drive are not severely damaged, otherwise you should swap its components then like platters, heads, and a spindle motor, for example.
A current tool named "hard drive head/platter exchange professional" used for drive disassembling and head/platter exchange will be replaced by the vendor soon. The change is made for optimization reason, and the new product is a better enhancement; plus, the new platter exchanger allows users to work on hard drive with spacers between platters.
If you have known much about data recovery and if you have a craving for this field, you should start your own business with a right equipment and then you can be an expert. Of course, it is not easy to find a proper option from current data recovery equipments with sky-high price in economy hard times. It is even worse when comes to new versions of software to products you are possessing, vendors will charge every time. In this case, free of charge upgrade service is the way to go.

Have you accidentally deleted a file and can not recover it? Or have you formatted your hard drive and forgot to back your important files?
Do not panic, there is a possibility of recovering the files you lost with recovery tools. You can recover deleted file such as document, music, pictures, and videos files. Recovery software programs are great tools that can be used on most devices from hard drives to even digital camera devices.
How does recovery software work?
Even thought you may have deleted a file from your computer's hard drive, it still remains on the hard drive until it is replaced by another file installed on your computer. So basically, when the file is deleted, it is still there on the hard drive, even though you cannot see it. The chance of it not being there depends on the users if they have installed many other files that could have replaced the old files.
What should you do to recover an accidentally deleted file?
When a file was accidentally deleted, the most important thing to do is prevent the deleted file from being overwritten by another file. Avoid installing programs and other files until you recover the deleted file. It is better to install the recovery software on a USB Device or floppy disk rather on the hard drive to prevent overwriting the files. As a good practice, always backup your important files.
Free Recovery Tools
Some free recovery software that can be use to recover deleted files are Pandora Recovery, FreeUndelete, and EASEUS Deleted File Recovery. These programs are great tool that can recover the files that you might think you can not recover.

Break-Downs and Break-Ins Leading to Data Loss. By George Pata
Hardware Breakdown: Hardware breakdowns can come in many different forms depending on the factor leading to its demise. A power surge can lead to hardware breaking down. This occurs when the power supply to your hardware is greater than the one that it can handle. This will cause the hard drive to stop functioning and thus your data may be lost. Another cause may be mishandling and carelessness. In the case of CDs and DVDs, leaving them lying around will cause them to get scratches thus, data may be lost. If a hard drive is being moved from one PC to another, it may drop and crash and may cause data to be lost. Thus, whenever handling hardware, it is always good to be very careful.
System Breakdown: In the case of an operating system, it is the one that forms the basis and the platform for other software to be installed. An operating system may breakdown due to a virus, which will either corrupt or destroy some system files. An operating system may also breakdown if some system files are corrupted, changed or deleted. If the platform is changed, it means that other things built on that platform will have to change. Thus, if the operating system is reconfigured, corrupted or some files are missing, the data within it will change or will be lost.
Criminal Break-ins: This means that some form of crime is performed to get access to data and destroy it. This may include theft, hacking into a system and even arson i.e. deliberately starting a fire to cause destruction of data. Even in these extreme cases like this data can be recovered.
Natural Disaster Break-ins: Natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, tornadoes etc. come very unexpectedly as thieves in the night. These are occurrences that cannot be stopped or avoided. They usually cause mass destruction and loss, even of data.

Data Loss Dangers Your Laptop is Exposed To. By George Pata
Hardware and/or System failure: Some the hardware components of ones laptop are vital for data storage, especially the hard drive. If the hard drive fails or crashes, information is unable to be read by the user. The user may think the data is lost but it can be recovered.
Also, if the operating system of a laptop fails to work, there is a possibility data will be lost. This is because the operating system is the basic platform on which all other software and other utilities run on. It is also the basic component that enables data retrieval hence, its failure leads to data loss.
Human Error: There are many forms of human errors. They can be classified into intentional and non-intentional human errors. Non-intentional errors may include accidental erasure, accidental dropping of the laptop and also sometimes forgetting to backup data. Human beings are not perfect and thus are bound to carry out many erroneous deeds. Some intentional human errors are mainly computer crimes like hacking into one's laptop and deleting some data. Stealing is also considered a human error. Thus, try and make your laptop as personal as possible.
Natural Disasters: As we all know, man can never control nature. This means if disasters occur naturally like floods, tornadoes or earthquakes, then the data within ones laptop is bound to be destroyed and get lost.
Computer Viruses: Viruses are programs that are designed to corrupt or interfere with the normal operations of a computer system and even cause destruction of files. The destructive ones attach themselves to certain files and ensure all the data within is completely destroyed, forcing you to desperately seek data recovery solutions.

Benefits of a Data Disaster Recovery Plan. By George Pata
It is always good to plan ahead before disaster strikes because 'prevention is better than cure'. The following are some benefits of having a data disaster recovery plan:
There is an assurance: Since a plan has been put in place before a certain disaster occurs, there is an assurance and confidence that is built in the employees and also customers. This will mean that both the employees and customers remain loyal to a particular firm. It will also increase the customer base because having a contingency plan acts as a good selling pint to potential client. Being prepared for disasters is one way of attracting customers.
File Security: It has been noted that at the current time, file corruption has greatly increased due to the spread of viruses. This means that data can be easily lost. Thus, planning and putting into place systems of backup will ensure that data belonging to that organization will be safe. In any case, if data is lost, they can always go to the backup and retrieve the data. In case of corrupted files, that backup system can be used to restore the corrupted files and allows a business to continue with its everyday running.
Saves on Time and Money: This is one of the major benefits of coming up with a data disaster recovery plan. If data was to be lost and no backups were kept, it would mean recreating the data all over again. Recreating this data would mean employees demanding overtime pay, informing the clients to bring their data again (meaning wasting the client's time and even money) and even negative publicity that would eventually lead to closure. A disaster plan puts in place backups that can be retrieved and business continues as usual. This saves a lot of time and money and therefore, it is advisable to come up with a disaster recovery plan for data.
