Recovering the Word 2007 .docx File

Microsoft Word Documents (.DOCX) created in Word 2007 are the most widely used document format as they take lesser space and offer more features. Few impressive features of every .docx file include new XML-based format, a redesigned interface with ribbon and an integrated equation editor. We can use these documents with older versions of MS Office like 2003 using free Microsoft utilities that convert the document (.docx to .doc) from XML compression format to the standard one. Any sort of corruption in these files may cause information loss, formatting issue or complete inaccessibility. In such situations, if no recent document backup is available, you need an efficient File Recovery Software.

The situations in which these documents (.docx) can be lost are:

o Occurrence of an error message can result in document (.docx) loss
o Power failure while working on the document

If the .docx file is lost due to any of the above reasons, then the user first needs to search for the .docx file in Windows. If the user can find the document by using the search option available in windows operating system. If the search results do not show the .docx file, then the user needs recover the lost word document. He can do that by using a third party application known as File Recovery Software to successfully recover the lost .docx file.

Online Backup Systems - Avoid Nightmares at Tax Time

Can you imagine this scenario (or perhaps we should say "nightmare")?

Pretend it's April 12 and there are just a few days left to finish your income tax forms. This year, however, you vow to get the job done before the midnight deadline on the 15th. So you finally sit down at your computer to start the multi-hour, despicable task. Your papers and receipts are neatly sorted into piles and your computer screen shows your open Excel spreadsheet. Your tax software is running. The only thing left is entering the data and numbers.

Then something happens. Your computer belches and throws up one of those dreaded blue screens. You try to reboot, but nothing happens. You panic. The next call you make is to your brother-in-law, the techie. But suddenly you realize that all of the personal data and information you need for the taxes is stored on the computer. And you don't have any backup copies...anywhere. You never got around to putting the files on your laptop or making data CDs. You get a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach.

This is when you wish you had investigated an online backup system.

Online backup systems are remote computers that store duplicate copies of your files. In the event of a catastrophe (whether it is a house fire, theft, hardware failure or human error), you can easily connect to the backup system and restore the data. There are several types of online backup systems available, but most of them operate using similar principles. Setup and installation is quick and easy. You download some software onto your computer and the rest happens quickly and automatically in the background. Should you ever need to recover data, it is equally fast.

One big advantage about online backup systems is that you can access your data from anywhere in the world and download it onto any computer. Additionally, enhanced encryption and other security measures assure total safety and confidentiality of all private or sensitive data.

There are several companies providing online backup services, so it is wise to check each of them out and compare features, benefits and costs before making your purchasing decision. Many of them offer free trial periods, so take advantage of those offers to compare ease of backup and data retrieval. CompareSquad's Online Backup Review page at CompareSquad.com/online-back-up is a good place to start your own comparisons. Their independent and unbiased reviews of the most popular and highly rated backup services can help you objectively select one that meets your needs.

So as income tax time approaches, think about what you would do if your data disappeared. Make a commitment now to put some of this year's tax refund into an online backup service.

Hard Drive Recovery Solutions

Hard Drive Recovery is a term which is used in Information Technology and other Computing related sectors. This is used for describing the procedure of searching, locating and restoring lost data. For instance, if your computer hard drive has got damaged and you can not access files from it, then you need to go for Recovery to get the files back.

As an unconventional process, Hard Drive Recovery was generally carried out by professionals or experienced users. Now-a-days, we can carry out recovery from not just computer storage but also from Personal Media Players like iPods, Memory Cards, Digital Camera, Mobile Phones, USB Drives; CDs and DVDs (as images). The aim of Data Recovery is to extract your most valuable data from respective storage media.

Modern Data Recovery procedures have become so simple that even a home user can easily use them to recover lost data. You may experience data loss issues due to accidental deletion, file system corruption, operating system corruption, erroneous hard drive format operations and other logical problems to your computer. You can still get your data back using high quality Recovery software. In most of the situations, when the data gets lost, it still resides on your hard drive. It generally remains physically intact. Only the index entries of files get deleted and thus operating system can not access the files.

The most standard form of Hard Drive Recovery procedures comes into action when you face certain physical problems with your hard drive or any other storage media. When it happens, you can not recover data on your own and you need to opt for professional Data Recovery assistance.

The possibility and success rate of Recovery depends upon the cause and extent of damage. In some situations you can easily recover your data but in others you might not be able to get your data back as the drive gets physically damaged. The physical Data Recovery requires special environment. Such environment should be free from dust, moisture and static (ESD) as the sensitive hard drive components can get affected due to these. So, it should be left for professionals that are well versed with hard disk internals.

The success rate of recovery of data also depends upon the reliability and power of Recovery solution that you are going to use. You should always go for a solution that is provided by an experienced and reputed Hard Drive Recovery company such as Stellar Information Systems Limited.

Stellar's high quality Data Recovery software are developed as per the highest standards of industry to provide safe, easy and quick recovery. Common Signs of a Hard Drive Failure

Hanging and freezing of the system: It is possible that at times when one is using their PC, it comes to a sudden halt. Even navigation of the mouse does not work. This means the system has hung. Freezing/ hanging of the system indicates that there are some bad sectors on the hard drive and the system is unable to access information it needs to open the file or to load a particular program. This can be caused by overloading of the system memory, corrupt files or having shared programs with conflicting procedural calls.

Unusual sounds from the hard drive: Clicking, noisy whirring and buzzing sounds emanating from the hard drive may indicate a head crash, corrupt firmware on the ROM chip, electrical problem, damaged hard drive platters, broken actuator arm or internal components of a hard drive have expanded due to overheating and are probably in contact with each other. At such a point, it is important to call a data recovery specialist to recover as much data as possible because problems of the hard drive lead to data loss.

Appearance of the "Blue Screen of Death": It is also possible that when using your PC, suddenly, a blue screen with a lot of information written on it appears. This may mean that the operating system has been damaged, existence of bad sectors on the hard drive making the system unable to read them, the hard drive could be failing, infection by viruses, some critical system files are missing or the file structure may have been damaged.

Continuous rebooting of the computer: Rebooting mean the computer keeps restarting itself. This is mainly caused by a virus. The virus usually attacks the booting files within the hard drive and creates a continuous loop. This loop tells the system to keep going back to the booting files and reboot.

Remote Data Backup Software Protects Your Digital Assets

Most IT professionals agree that getting laptop computers backed up can be a challenging task at the best of times and troublesome if not unattainable at the worst of times. Remote backups must be done to secure the companies data. Remote data backup gives the business the ability to backup those laptop computers, wherever they are, whether that be in the office, or in a offsite location, thereby preserving that crucial info safe.

Doing a offsite backup on enterprise laptop computers is sound business logic. Presently there are over half a million laptop computers lost or stolen in airports each year. That means many businesses lose crucial info with the loss of the computer, unless that info is always backed up. A effective remote data backup solution, will keep the files safe, in the event of loss, or damage to the laptop. Backing up laptop computers is like having an insurance policy on the laptop computers critical files.

The increase in use of laptop computers in the business environment have caused a issues to happen. One of the largest enterprise problems is the backing up of these remote systems. Corporate laptop computers are often out of the office, and often other states, or even other countries. Since laptop computers are not wired into to the networks at scheduled times it is hard to backup and hold info safe. When normal system backups take place the remote computer is often turned off, or in another time zone, or the bandwidth needed for the remote computer backup is just too stiff to be considered expeditious, so it is disposed by the employee. For whatever reason the consequence is still the same with the files being insecure. Essential info can be destroyed if something happens to the remote computer without being backed up.

The consequence of lost files can be averted if you find an effective data backup system for laptop computers. This backup software package has been created with the remote computer in mind allowing backups wherever the laptop computer is. Today there is corporate offsite data backup software packages that give high-speed backups that call for little thoroughput usage. This implies that no matter where the laptop computer is based, and what the thoroughput is, the corporate remote computer can be backed up rapidly and effectively.

In order to get user buy in the software package needs to be safe, secure and uncomplicated to install. When doing the search for a new offsite laptop backup solution look for one with an uncomplicated user interface, which uses an minimum of thoroughput and which backups incrementally. By backing up incrementally the backup can take place much more rapidly than with other kinds of backup software packages.

External Hard Drive Data Recovery - Recovering Data From the External Hard Drive

Is it harder to recover data that has been lost form an external hard drive than an internal one? According to the experts who continually work hard to recover data from each of these sources there is no difference. They are both quite complex but there are a few additional steps to consider when you are trying to recovery data from an external hard drive.

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when you are looking at recovering data on an external hard drive. It has to be attached to a system so you can monitor the recovery process. Most IT departments have an extra work space for this purpose. If not you can likely use any of the other desk top computers in the facility. This really isn't going to affect the quality of the data recovery process. It is simply a monitoring done for convenience.

The person who is responsible for completing the data recovery process for the external drive has to be able to monitor what is taking place. This way they can perform the right tasks each step of the way. There is simply no reason to complete the entire recovery process only to discover that something wasn't working right so it all has to be repeated. This can cost valuable time and increase the cost of the services.

The integrity of the data has to be tested after it is recovered. This can be done by opening several of the data files that have been saved to the external drive. You should take a close look at the operating system first. If everything is fine there move to the other large files you have on your computer system.

Once you are positive all of the data is in place and working correctly you will be able to return the external drive to its original location. For those who are well trained in the process, data recovery is a methodical process that can be done on both an external and internal hard drive. In most cases the entire process can be done without too much difficulty.

If you found this information on External Hard Drive Data Recovery useful, you'll also want to read about Data Recovery Freeware.

Remote Server Backup - How Reliable and Secure is It?

Just how reliable is a remote server backup solution, really?

It is being touted as the latest innovation in disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity for the small-to-medium sized business owner: The ability to have the files on your desktop computer or even your servers being backed up, in real-time, over the Internet, on autopilot.

Of course, using a remote server backup solution yields substantial cost savings: You don't have to invest in any hardware or even any backup media, you don't have to license any software, and you don't have to hire technical specialists to maintain your backups for you.

Your disaster recovery solution is as simple as this:

1. Sign up with an online backup service provider.

2. Install the client agent software on your machine. This agent is always running in the
background on the machine, 24 hours a day (or whenever your PC is on.)
3. Any time you make any changes to your hard drive - files are added, modifed, or deleted,
the agent detects the change, encrypts the file, and copies the changed file across the
Internet to a remote server backup facility maintained by the service provider.
4. If you need to recover a file, all you need to do is open up Windows Explorer or "My
Computer". There, you will find a "network drive" that has set up for you. This network
drive behaves just like another hard drive, except that when you click to open it up, the files
that you see there are actually a backup version of your hard drive!
5. To recover any file, you simply copy the file from the network drive back to your local
computer's hard drive.

So just how reliable is this solution?

If you have a high-speed Internet connection, then you should have no problems. If your PC is able to download files off the Internet (and chances are 100% that your PC is able to do that!), it should be able to send files across the Internet for backup purposes, too!

And how secure is this solution?

All of the files are encrypted by the agent software before being uploaded to the remote server backup facility. What that means is that nobody, not even the folks who work at the online service provider, would be able to read or manipulate your data. It is completely secure.

Are you prepared in case disaster strikes and you lose your data? Fortunately, there is an easy solution: You can backup your data online instantly on autopilot.

Why Waste TIME and MONEY on other Data Recovery Software?

I am happy and glad to discover that I can finally recover my files now whenever any mistake occurs when I am using my computer system saving files, working with documents or at times when I need to transfer or copy files from one system or device to another.
You too can have this assurance any minute from now.
Once upon a time, I used to be part of the minority who had always felt there was no remedy at all for mistakes made whenever I was processing data using my personal computer. Retrieving files deleted from the recycle bin was easy seeing all I needed to do was to open the recycle bin, click on the file deleted or recovered and simply click on restore and it was done.
You will be used to this procedure as well.
However, the recovery of my files or any deleted document after I have emptied the recycle bin posed a great challenge indeed. It was an impossible task.
I hardly see it let alone get to recover or restore it back. There was no manual, report or guide as regards recovery of my files when emptied from the recycle bin and this gave me a lot of worry and caused me sleepless nights.
In my dilemma and while almost at the point of despair from frustration over my missing files which was much needed, deleted documents that were required to complete some projects later on, etc I was opportune to come across a third party software that safely, securely and completely assisted in the recovery of my files.
To RECOVER/RESTORE ALL MY FILES without delay...
[video, document, photographs, music, audio, e-mail, excel doc, word doc, etc]
At first I was skeptical about trying the software for the recovery of my files but considering the fact that I did not have any ready solution to my problem, I was left with little or no choice. My curiosity got the better of me and in desperation I tried it out.
Getting to download the Recover My Files software to my system was easy and getting it installed, up and running was simple.

Need and Importance of Data Recovery Software and Data Recovery Services

Data stored in the hard drive of a computer system is a significant part of our personal and professional life. Loss or damage to any kind of data can result as significant loss in business. Numerous internal and external factors like, software malfunction, improper system shutdown, virus infection, natural disasters, etc. may result in loss of files. Once the work is lost, you need to perform Data Recovery by either using a Data Recovery Software or File Recovery service, which entirely depends on the cause of work loss.

In few cases, loss of some files can be managed as from the Recycle Bin. Though when an entire partition of hard drive gets damaged or corrupted, it results in disaster scenarios which require Partition Recovery. It also enables the users to recover the lost data from numerous problems including software malfunctioning, improper system shutdown and virus infection. The Software extracts the system and data files that reside on the particular area of the hard disk. Data Recovery Tools - Which One to Use? By Ken Roberts

Data recovery tools are widely available so that you can successfully recover your own files. That's not just marketing talk: I've experienced it first-hand. Just know that if you have accidentally erased an important file and thought it might be gone for good, a variety of data recovery tools are out there ready to recover your data.

If you have gone through the experience of needing data recovery tools before, you know how important it is to establish a system for backing up. That's my only lecture to you. You can now pass go to download data recovery tools. However if this is your first time, you first need to spend three more minutes to get an overview of what to do.

The recovery products dilemma

There are a number of different data recovery tools available right now to restore data are software programs. But there are so many different products available that finding just one or two can seem a little overwhelming. In an effort to make more money, lots of vendors will separate their software into several utilities to make more money. Often all this does is make a lot of consumers confused.

Use your own data recovery tools

This might seem obvious to you, but many computer users forget all about using the data recovery tools that are already available on their computers. The Trash Bin on your desktop may have a secondary copy that can be reused. Try searching for any copy throughout you entire computer through the search function.

Start with the Trash Bin. Click on the icon and begin searching through all of the trashed files. If you find what you need, double click the file and you will see the restore button. The Search function can help locate missing files. It is located in different places according to the operating system you are using.

At the bottom of the computer screen in Windows look for the magnifying glass within the start icon. When you open it, directions instructing you on how to proceed will appear to the left. It's been a while since I've done it for Mac but they have a pretty similar data recovery module.

Trying professional tools

After you have tried the above mentioned recovery options and still get no results, then it is time to move on professional data recovery tools. You may be glad to find out that there are some free data recovery tools available. However, many of these programs are not all that powerful, so you may need to try quite a few of them. Searching for these free programs can take some time too. So take this in to consideration.

If you want to get your data back quickly without trying out a bunch of different methods that may not work, start looking for data recovery tools online that have dollar signs next to them. The data recovery tools that cost are more powerful than free utilities. And all data recovery tools allow you to try them out first before purchasing, so that you can make sure they actually work.

All data recovery tools have limits. They cannot promise recovery 100 percent of the time, so there is a chance they may not work. Your next option is to contact an experienced data recovery company. A professional service is more expensive than using data recovery tools on your own, but they can get back your data.

Most data recovery tools can recover data in a lot of cases. Ken Roberts shows how to find reliable data recovery software and what to do when it doesn't work.

Data Recovery on Laptops? Yes We Can.

Is it possible that one day when you were working with your laptop you accidentally pressed delete and when you checked your information in the recycle bin but it was not there? Did you panic or go nuts? Well, there is good news. Probably your data still exists as long as you have not tampered with your hard disk. Thanks to people known as data recovery specialists, your data can still be recovered.

This may sound unreal and unbelievable but there are actually data recovery specialists who can recover your lost data from your personal computer PC and laptop. These specialists are well trained technicians in data recovery. They have well built labs that contain all the necessary technology, machinery and equipment used to recover your data. They use certain methods in order for one to get back to work on his data that was supposedly lost. They also advise people on how to backup their data incase such situation happen again.

Many people, especially those who have studied IT believe that if their laptop crashes, they can do it on their own. This is a misconception that may cause one to lose his/her data permanently. Trying to recover the data on your own using system utilities or even data recovery software may have detrimental effects to your data. This is why it is advised not to try and do the recovery on your own. Just pick up the phone and make the call to the data recovery specialist.

It definitely cost to have your data recovered by the data recovery specialist but I bet it's worth the cost. What if you have very important information that is needed for a presentation the following day and you had worked on it for months? What would you opt for? In some cases, you will lose data that the specialist will not be able to recover. Therefore, the specialist should charge you on the amount of information that is recoverable.

So, the next time you lose information on your laptop (or even PC) do contact a data recovery specialist.

Data Recovery After Virus Infection

The process of Data Recovery involves easy and systematic recovery of lost data from storage media like hard disk, pen drive, memory cards, optical disc images etc. Recovery is a unique process that is performed by the users to recover different type of data files such as office suite files, photos, videos, music etc. The data saved in the hard drive can be damaged or lost due to operating system failure, improper system shutdown, accidental deletion, virus infection, partition table corruption or loss, file system corruption, software malfunction etc. To completely recover the lost data, the user needs to use effective Data Recovery Software.

Generally we observe that when a user creates an important document like the annual financial report of the organization, there are various components in it like text, diagrams, tables etc. Such critical reports should always be backed up properly as by using Microsoft Backup files or copying them manually to an external drive. In this case, the data loss may happen because of file corruption. The file corruption is generally attributed to malicious software like virus and malware. In such circumstances, we should scan the system for infected files and then try to disinfect them. The files get corrupts as per the virus behavior. Normally, it is not easy to disinfect a file and maintain the data integrity at the same time. The files generally go corrupt and don't even open with the Office application. So, we need to opt for Software that enables the user to recover the lost report.

To recover from such data loss, the organizations need to use third party applications known as Data Recovery Software. Effective Software enable the user to recover and restore the lost data in all logical data loss situations. Recovery Software are specifically designed for various file systems, software suites and applications.

Error While Saving File in Windows Vista

Windows Vista uses new rules to partition hard disks that are incompatible with earlier Windows versions including Windows XP and Server 2003. The rules are applied to the starting and ending sectors of Vista partitions. In Windows Vista, partition border is created on the basis of registry setting, which was earlier based on cylinder boundary. When a user attempts to save any file on hard disk, formatted in earlier versions like Windows XP with Windows Vista the following error messages may occur.

• "Drive Letter:FolderFileName You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?"
• "Access to Drive Letter:FolderFileName was denied"

The partitioning procedure incompatibility doesn't let the earlier version formatted hard drive to save files under Windows Vista. So, the error messages are encountered.

In order to resolve the issue, we need to format the hard drive as per the new partitioning rules of Windows Vista. Thus, it is suggested to backup all the data, preferably on an external storage media. If the backup is not up-to-date or any issue occurs with the external storage media, we will have to use Data Recovery utilities to extract the lost data files.

• We need to format the partition to make it usable in Vista (Computer > Right Click on Partition > Format)
• If we get the UAC (User Account Control) message for confirmation or password, we need to type an administrator password or click Continue
• We can select NTFS (default) file system from the list, select the Quick Format check box and Start
• After the format operation is complete, we need to click on close.

However, if formatting can't be accomplished, a user can either run the program that is used to save the file as an administrator or save the file to the Documents folder and then move the file to the destination folder.

Data Recovery

When no valid backup exists the lost data can be recovered using data recovery software. If user loses important files due to format operation, powerful scanning abilities of data recovery utilities can help to completely recover such files. Data Recovery Software are third party applications that can easily restore our critical data. These Data Recovery utilities must be installed on a different bootable hard drive in order to prevent permanent data loss due to overwriting.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the best data recovery software which uses powerful scanning algorithms to locate and recover lost information. This data recovery application can recover data from FAT16, FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system based Windows partitions and volumes. It is a user friendly Data Recovery Software with self descriptive and largely graphical user interface. The software supports Windows Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000. Offsite Data Backup & Recovery

Ensure You Don't Lose Your Important Data to Disaster How much do you rely on the information stored on your computer? It's likely you keep a lot of data on there that would be very difficult or even impossible to replace should it be lost. If you are running a business that relies on computers, laptops, and servers for the storage and exchange of data, the loss of this information could cost your business dearly, not just financially, but in time and reputation too.

Many things can occur that would cause the data stored on your laptop or desktop PC or Mac computer, or even your network servers, to be lost forever. A fire, flood, or other disaster could cause damage to hard drives and other storage devices. Computers and laptops may be stolen or lost. A computer virus can corrupt or delete important documents and files on your system. These are just some of the events that could make your data disappear without trace, unless you have backup copies.

That is why it is vitally important that you do keep a backup of all of your data, and keep it in a safe and secure place away from your home or place of business, so that it will not be affected should disaster strike. Backing up your data need not cost you a lot of money, or take much time or effort, but the peace of mind it will bring you or your business is priceless. Secure offsite data backup will give you this peace of mind.

Saving Your Treasured Memories
Take a moment to think about what is stored on your home computer or laptop. Family photographs, important letters, emails, and other documents, perhaps even home videos and other files which carry a sentimental value. If your computer was to break down or be lost, stolen, or damaged, it may prove impossible to get this data back. Taking the time to copy these files and store them somewhere safe could save you a lot of heartache. An offsite data backup and storage service would help you to ensure that, should anything happen to the data on your PC or laptop, it won't be lost forever.

Insuring Your Business Against a Data Loss Disaster
What about the files, documents, and other information that your business stores on its computers and servers? Misconceptions in Data Recovery

Accidental erasure means permanent data loss: This is one of the most perceived in the minds of many PC users. They believe that one the accidentally erase some data/files and it was important, that data cannot be retrieved. THAT'S NOT TRUE! As long as one does not tamper with the storage medium, your data can be retrieved by data recovery specialist. So in case any user happens to delete some critical information that they really need, don't panic! Just pick up the phone and contact a reputable data recovery specialist who will give you the necessary guidance in recovering your data.

Data Recovery is very costly: If you are reading this and you have this mentality, you had better stop thinking. Statistics have it that after data loss, it is estimated that having to recreate the data would cost 8000$ per MB. Who is willing to spend all this money recreating all the lost information when one could go for data recovery services? Data recovery services would charge a few thousand or even a few hundred dollars to recover your data within a short amount of time. So do the math and choose the best option!

Data Recovery specialists are fraudsters: This is another misconception that is not good. These are the only people who can salvage your business after data has been lost. Just as an accountant is entrusted with the accounts within any organization, a data recovery specialist is entrusted with the work of recovering data; your data which is very important. It is said that data is the fuel that keeps a business going. Without data, your business would collapse. Therefore, whether one may think that data recovery specialists are fraudsters, you may at one point or the other need their services as they could be the only people who may keep your business running by helping you recover your lost data.

Why Cheap Data Recovery Solutions Are Not For You

In this age where data loss can get lost at any time, many data recovery companies are emerging and it becomes difficult to make a good choice. Many users may opt for cheaper solutions and this may cost them more in trying to recover their data. It may even be the case that ones data may be completely lost. This in no way means that one takes their hard drive to the most expensive company.

Therefore, it is good to do a variation of prices across several companies. Let the drive be viewed by at least 3 data recovery companies and make your evaluation from that. If there is a similar diagnosis from the companies then it means that they are reputable. But if they differ, it is always advisable to get another opinion because the most important thing is that your data is recovered.

The companies offering cheap data recovery solutions should be avoided because some of them just want to lure one into low quotes just to get the work but they don't put in the seriousness that is deserved. After doing their diagnosis, they tell you that the hard disk damage is quite serious and the cost for its recovery is 2 times what they quoted. Such companies should not be trusted.

There are other companies that have hidden charges. Yes, they will lure one with low prices, but they will begin to charge one for parts, labor and other "additional" technology that was used. Such companies are fraudsters.

Therefore, the next time your hard drive fails, be careful to choose the right data recovery solution company. Do your homework well and your data will be recovered.

System Crashes and Your Laptop Hard Disk Drive

Anyone's hard drive is the most important thing they have in their laptop or notebook because it is the one that stores all the information of an individual or company. Because of this, it is important to ensure that your hard disk drive is in proper running condition so that your data is not in danger of being corrupted.

The unfortunate thing is that despite the amount of care that is taken, hard disk drives are still bound to crash. In this case, it we must look for ways of data recovery. Data/ system crashes occur when errors are experienced in the system. In spite of the type of storage device i.e. hard disk, tapes, CDs/ DVDs etc. once the system is overwhelmed by either logical or physical errors, it is bound to fail.

One of the problems experienced by the hard disk is croaking. Croaking can include things such as frequent disk error messages, disk not in proper running order while the computer is booting, the "Blue Screen of Death" (a blue screen with a lot of information written on it that shows the hard disk is being defragmented) or even weird sounds such as whirring or clock sounds. These sounds come from the CPU. When such things are experienced, it could mean that your system is about to crash thus, it is advisable to backup as much data as possible.

In case the hard drive crashes, the fastest mode of recovery is usually backups. However, it is possible that the backup is outdated. Therefore, the next option would be to employ the services of a data recovery specialist. This is the most advisable and, personally, the best option to be taken when the system begins to crash. With the experience they have, data recovery specialist will use the necessary skill and technology to recover your data.

How a Hard Drive Works. by Younis

Hard Disk: A hard disk, also called a hard disk drive, is a storage device that contains one or more inflexible, circular patterns that magnetically store data, instructions, and information.
As with foppy disks, the data on hard disks is recorded on a series of tracks located on one or more platters. The tracks are divided into sectors when the disk is formatted. In view of above Figure show how a hard drive works.
The hard Drive platters spin at a high rate of speed, typically 5,400 to 7,200 revolutions per minute. When reading data from the disk, the read head senses the magnetic spots that are recorded on the disk along the various tracks and transfers that data to memory. When writing, the data is transferred from memory and is stored as magnetic spots on the tracks on the recording surface of one or more of the disk platters. When reading or writing, the read / write heads on a hard disk drive do not actually touch the surface of the disk.
The number of platters permanently mounted on the spindle of hard disk varies. On most drives, each surface of the platter can be used to store data. Thus, if a hard disk drive uses one platter, two surfaces are available for data. If the drive uses two platters, four sets of read / write heads read and record data from the four surfaces. Storage capacity of internally mounted fixed disks for personal computers range from 10 GB to more than 200 GB.
The system unit on most destop and notebook computers contains at least one hard disk. Although hard disks are available in removable cartridge form, most hard disks cannot be removed from the computer.

The Significance of Data Recovery Software For Business

With the introduction of advanced technology, computer systems have become an essential part of the business world. All of the business operations are carried out using computers and peripherals. Nowadays, we cannot even think about the possibility of an efficient work environment without computers.

You can not deny that computers have a number of benefits for the users but along with the advantages, they also have certain drawbacks. All the data like office documents and business information etc. is stored on computer storage like hard drive. Such data stays at risk as the normal hard drives that we use consist of various moving parts that generate heat and may fail because of wear and tear over a period of time. Also, the magnetic storage method of a hard drive is not as secure as optical storage like of DVDs and CDs. What should be done to overcome this?

Using Data Recovery software you can retrieve your lost data from virus infected, formatted or logically crashed hard drives and other storage media like pen drives. Data Recovery software are reliable applications and offer total recovery. You need not have sound technical skills and prior recovery knowledge. We should be careful while selecting Recovery tools for our system. Why Opt For a Data Card?

A data card has a great capacity to store data and it is an essential part of many lives today. This allows us to access data anywhere without interruption. Data cards are the perfect solution when you do not need to store information in bulk on your hard disk and at the same time keep the data exclusive. The data card is also portable and information can be pulled up in a few seconds. There are several advantages of health data cards where the entire information of the patient is done in chronological order. This serves the purpose of insurance companies as the medical record is downloaded in a few minutes.

Memory cards are also an effective way to store data. This has more value especially in camera or videos where the data has a limit on the system. The cards can be stored in small neat packs which are chips and used whenever you need to view the same. Old data can also be erased or transferred to a different location whereby the data card is ready for further storing.

Internet connection has to be reliable as business is highly affected in case of downtime and slow speed. Time is actually money and hence opting for a data card is a sensible choice. There lies merit in going for a data card because the link is not lost and the work on the internet can be carried without any interruption. Dial up services are more prone to breakdowns and also harbor virus easily.

The data card comes with a compact disk that has instructions on its usage and download. The SIM needs to be placed in the disk and the card can be inserted in the slot provided in the laptop. The software is activated and ready to use. The biggest advantage is that this can be used anywhere and as the laptop is highly portable the data card serves the purpose well. The card can be used to send voice message or general SMS which is another advantage.

There is no hindrance of down time or low speed as the connection is constant and reliable. The biggest advantage is that it is not connected to any landline as dial up services which can have its own disadvantages. The charges are applicable as per the service provide with a few instructions about the charge structure. The data card is a sensible choice especially if your vocation needs you to change locations as the access is possible even when you travel abroad.

Data cards have now become a important part of our business. Another most imminent technology just like the data cards is the DTH in India. Check the links to find out more.

Data Recovery Planning

When formulating business continuity plans, the first concern is typically how fast you can get the organization running again. Whilst critical, it's only half of the recovery equation. The second part of a recovery plan needs to focus on the amount of data an organization can afford to lose.

After all, do you want your business up and running quickly, but operating with data that's a day or even a week old? While most organizations would like zero data loss and zero time loss, the cost associated with that level of protection may make the desired high availability solutions unpractical.

Common strategies for data protection are:

• Daily Backups to tape and sent off-site at regular intervals.
• Backups to disk on-site and automatically copied to off-site disk.
• Replication of data to an off-site location.
• High availability systems which keep both the data and system replicated off-site, enabling continuous access to systems and data.

In many cases, an organization may elect to use an outsourced disaster recovery provider to provide a stand-by site and systems rather than using their own remote facilities.

In addition to the recovery of data and systems, organizations must also implement preventative measures. The objective of these measures is to prevent a disaster situation in the first place.

These may include some of the following:

• Local mirrors of systems and/or data and use of disk protection technology such as RAID
• Surge Protectors
• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
• Backup Generator to keep systems going in the event of a power failure

The Best Data Recovery Choice For You. By John Simpson

The best defense against a loss of data is a really solid and faithful backup routine of important files to reliable media. It's also a good idea for the media to be removable and portable if possible so that even if something happens to your whole computer for any reason, the data is protected by being in a totally different physical area.

OK, so that is the best solution to data loss. But what if you have not been backing up your drive like you should and now you find yourself confronted with the daunting task of getting all the important files back that were on your computer before the emergency happened? (By the way, you can take some comfort in knowing that quite a few people find themselves in this situation. You are not alone.) What are your choices at this point?

Well, basically there are two ways of recovering data from a damaged disk, either by using a data recovery service or a data recovery software package. Either can do the job, but there are some factors that should go into your decision about which one to use. First, are you pretty computer savvy? If you are then maybe data recovery software will work for you. If not, do not try this method at all. The other is how much time do you have to spend on retrieving this data? If you have lots of time to put into it, then consider doing the job yourself with a reputable software package. If you don't have much time to devote to this endeavor, don't waste both time and money with the software option.

If you have decided upon using a data recovery service, you should know that the odds are that you will get a good portion, if not all of your data back. The generally accepted success rate in the industry is around 80%. Much of the success will depend on the skill and determination of the data recovery specialist who will be working on your drive. They all have sophisticated software tools to work with, but data recovery is not as simple as just plugging in a piece of software, walking away and coming back when it has found all the files. It often requires a specialist who is a bit of a detective, andnot easily discouraged, to get back a good portion of data, especially on drives with physical damage.

Don't be surprised to get two quotes for data recovery from some companies either. One for logical data retrieval that is much easier to handle and will be a much lower figure, and one for physical damage which is far more challenging and therefore rightly costs more. You will also find that cost quotes will often vary considerably. It is usually best to choose somewhere in the middle of the pack toward the higher end. The reason for this is that some companies engage in a bait and switch tactic that indicates that they will cost less initially, but when they actually receive the drive they wil claim that upon review the cost will be much higher. It's best to avoid messing with these companies at all.

So if you have lost data and have no backups to fall back on, data recovery can still be done. Just use the guidelines presented in this article for choosing the data recovery method that will work best for you.

Why Individual Data Recovery is a Strict No No. By George Pata

Warranty becomes void: If an individual attempts to perform data recovery on their on, the possibility of worsening the situation increases. If the situation becomes worse and the hardware device is taken to the computer suppliers (assuming that the warranty has not expired), they will not be able to fix it/replace the medium. This is because part of the warranty policy is not to try and fix anything individually without professional help. With a data recovery specialist, one is able to cite the company and the warranty would still remain valid.

Exposure to Hazards: As a procedure, the process of data recovery has to occur when the computer is powered. In this case, if an individual tries to perform data recovery alone, he is exposing himself to the risk of being electrocuted. Since he may not have the knowledge of the parts to be touched and those to be avoided, he is exposing himself electrical circuits which may be detrimental, even causing death. Thus, professional help from an experience data recovery specialist is always advised.

More Damage: Trying to recover data without professional help may cause more damage. While trying to fix the problem at hand, one may tamper with another component without prior knowledge; one may tamper with the hard disk causing it to crash or even attempt fixing the wrong device.

Permanent Loss of Data: In the process of trying to recover data individually, there is a possibility that data may be lost permanently. It is possible that one may overwrite data already stored and that means permanent loss of data stored. One has to be extra careful when dealing with matters of data recovery. This is why we must employ the services of a data recovery expert.

Some Basic Tips on Data Recovery. By George Pata

Causes of the data loss: Data can be lost in a different number of ways. The most common ways are human error which includes accidental erasure, mishandling of storage devices, computer crimes (hacking, theft, arson) etc., power surges, virus attacks, natural disasters just to mention but a few. Some of these causes can be minimized e.g. power surges can be controlled using uninterrupted power supply (UPS), installing anti-virus software, providing physical security to the premises that hold data by employing guards, connecting CCT, etc.

Data Recovery is actually possible: This is true as long as the storage medium is not tampered with. The common thing that happens whenever one loses data is to panic and try to fix the problem on their own, making the situation worse. In this respect, it is always advised that when one loses data, he should not panic but seek for professional help immediately from data recovery specialists. This is the best thing to do as your data will be salvaged before great damage is done. Data recovery specialists know what to do with your storage medium in order to save your data. So don't panic; just make the call and your data could be saved.

Leave it for the Specialists: It is sad that if you wear one's shoes for a day, at the end of it you would want your shoes back. In the same way, when you try and recover data on your own, you will only make the situation worse and wish you had made that call to the data recovery specialist at the onset. Thus, individuals should be discouraged from trying to carry out data recovery. Stick to your area of expertise and let the professionals do their work.
